December 7, 1933 - January 6, 2021
Luis Armando Rodriguez left this earth to join his wife, Maria, and son, Steven, in heaven on January 6, 2021.Luis was born in Needles Ca. on December 7, 1933. He moved to Barstow when he was about 16 years old, attending local schools and graduating from Barstow High School in 1951. He was known to many as Armando, L.A., Sonny, Libby, the Doctor, and the latter being that if something ailed you and he had the remedy. One could say that he wore a hat for each alias, because he helped so many people. He did not like to see anyone struggle. Armando was a kind and generous man. He touched so many lives and always tried to help. His kindness will truly be missed, and we will feel that void. He enjoyed watching football and was always ready to watch his favorite team, Green Bay Packers, while enjoying his trademark beer and peanuts. His TV room had become his Packers room. Someone always gifted him with Green Bay memorabilia, and he showed and wore it proudly. Working many years of service, Armando retired form Goldstone and Santa Fe Railroad. After retirement he enjoyed many hobbies that kept him busy. He loved to listen to music and always had the radio on or playing records when he worked around the yard. He read any book he felt he could learn from and always wanted to share that knowledge with us. Armando taught himself the trade of masonry, and built several walls surrounding his neighborhood. You could say he left them as a reminder for us all. His favorite hobby was playing Golf. He was particularly good and participated in several tournaments winning many prizes and trophies. Armando was a cancer survivor, he had a real sense of strength, never giving up. He always had hope he would win the battle. He was a simple man, not needing much to keep him happy. This father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend will be missed by many, but will never be forgotten. We will miss hearing his truck coming up the street, sitting low in his seat, and waving to all. Armando leaves behind 3 children: Armando Jr., and Lydia (Rex) and Mark (Jennifer); 6 grandchildren: Ashley (Ernesto), Stephanie (Eli), Armando, Lucas, Tedi, Josh, and Averie.; 8 Great Grandchildren: Milagros, Rene, Eli, Kael, Rokvi,Ma'ney, Elisabet, and Alexandria. Graveside services will be Feb. 12,2021 at 11am, Mountain View Cemetery. Social Distancing and masks will be required but know the love will be felt. You are invited to wear any memorabilia to represent his team Green Bay. Arrangements will be handled by Sunset Hill Mortuary.
