Melody Lynn Martin

Melody Lynn Martin, (61), died from natural causes on May 1, 2019 in her home in Yermo, California. Melody was born to parents, David Jona and Grace Lovell (Arrowsmith) Barkman, on August 28, 1957 in Santa Ana, Ca. At the age of 3, the family moved to Adelanto, California where she lived most of her life. She attended public schools in Adelanto and Victorville, graduating from Victor Valley High School in 1975. She continued her education at Victor Valley Community College, where she earned an Associate Degree. The highlight of her college years was when her college choir class toured Europe. In 1979, Melody was hired by the Adelanto School District. She enjoyed 38 years as an elementary school librarian and media specialist. Jeffrey Lynn Martin married her in 1989. Although the marriage was brief, it gave her a son. David Joseph Martin was the love of her life. Melody is preceded in death by her parents, David and Grace Barkman; aunt, Esther Brantley and uncle, John Barkman. She is survived by her son, David; sisters, Joy (Tom) Yates, and Carol (Darrell) Long; aunt, Mary Barkman; cousin, Marla Jo Webb; nieces: Melinda, Jennifer, Tammy, Lorilyn and Rebecca; nephews: Tommy, Joshua, Jeremy; 13 great-nieces, 10 great nephews; 8 great-great nieces and 2 great-great nephews.
